What did you like about the book? A colorful coral reef is the setting for this quirky picture book about shyness. Maurice, a flapjack octopus, is new to Fish School. He hides behind his mother as they arrive, under the desk in class, and among coral and sea plants everywhere else. But, at the Deep Blue Dance Hall he shows his stuff. At a birthday party which he begrudgingly attends, he meets another shy one: Lucy, the box fish. Beguiling jewel tone colors and gorgeous fishy scenes underwater showcase Ciraolo’s artistic story telling, with the end papers introducing the characters. A lovely, quiet book to contemplate, perhaps with a shy little one on your lap.
