What did you like about the book? A cat awakens to find a yellow egg in its bed and seeks help from other animals in hatching it. When Cat asks Dog for help in hatching it’s kitten, Dog replies: “…that’s not how it works.” Undeterred, Cat asks Crow, Cuckoo and Turtle for help. But in carrying the egg around in the hot sun it begins to melt. Dog realizes that Cat has found a chocolate Easter Egg and advises her not to eat it as she’ll get sick if she does. Instead, Dog shares his dinner with Cat. The final page has a warning for the reader about the dangers of letting pets have chocolate. The artwork has an exotic feel and draws the reader into the story with color and expression. A cute story with an important message for pet health.

To whom would you recommend this book? This is a good choice to share with children at Easter and to teach them that chocolate is dangerous for pets to eat.
