All Roads Lead to Rome by Sabrina Fedel. Delacorte Romance, 2024. 9780593705216

Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 4

Format: Paperback

Genre:  Teen/Young adult romance

What did you like about the book: Story (Astoria) is the shy daughter of a diplomat stationed in Rome who is used to keeping to herself until she can go off to college. But after a chance meeting with Scottish hunk Luca, she is swept up in a plot to hide Luca’s relationship with a pop star. Immersed in a world of celebrities, paparazzi and social media, Story loses control of her carefully laid plans, and of her heart. This breezy romance is a delightful whirlwind that touches on issues of class, privacy, and addiction without being preachy or too adult. It’s a fun read that pays tribute to Rome as much as to young love.

Anything you didn’t like about it? The climax relies on the trope of a misunderstanding that sends Story fleeing when the confusion and hurt could have been resolved with a conversation.

To whom would you recommend this book? Teens and tweens looking for a fun PG romance, who don’t want or are not ready for Colleen Hoover and other popular edgy romance novels

Who should buy this book?  High school and public libraries whose patrons enjoy romance

Where would you shelve it? Young Adult fiction

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes
