What did you like about the book? McTavish takes less of a leading role in this episode of the McTavish books. The Peachey family tackles house chores as a unit, except for Pa Peachey, until he decides he can bake the best bread. He dedicates himself to this task with fervor. When a competition is announced for the best bread baking, he decides to create a masterpiece, the Palace of Versailles. Though he works ‘round the clock, he is not successful. When the big day arrives, the Peachey family wonders if they should be truthful to Pa, that as a baker, he is a failure… Fortunately McTavish saves the day!
This is another easy-to-read addition to the McTavish stories with just enough black, white and grey illustrations to carry the story along.
Anything you did not like about the book? No.
To whom would you recommend this book? Those who read the previous McTavish stories, will definitely want to ready this one. Also a good choice for beginning chapter book readers who like light fare with humor and dogs.
Who should buy this book? Public and elementary school libraries
Where would you shelve it? Juvenile fiction
