Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 4

Format: ARC (publication date 8/1/23)

What did you like about the book? Fang invites children to help the Boo Crew (made up of friends Luna, Bones, and Fang) on Halloween night, trying to fix things in the neighborhood so the Boo Fest can go off as planned. Children are encouraged to “press here” to call the Boo Crew for help; “shout ‘Yes’” to agree to help the Boo Crew; “push a button” to reset a gadget; “blow” on a candle to put out the flame; “tap” the pumpkins to glue them back together and more. Adorable illustrations draw the eye, keeping this spooky story not the least bit scary, and the interactivity keeps children engaged throughout.

Anything you didn’t like about it? Some of the text doesn’t flow well, but it didn’t seem to bother my son.

To whom would you recommend this book? Children ages 2-8 (Read-alike: Shake to Assemble)

Who should buy this book? Elementary schools, public libraries, and day-cares

Where would you shelve it? jFiction Fang (picture books)

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Near the top
