What did you like about the book? This book made me want to run out to the library! In the book we meet a diverse group of children who tell us all about the story of how they checked out a book from the library. The book tells us that there is the story in the book and the story behind how the book got to the reader and what happens when they borrow that book. We meet Nia first who reads the book while eating broccoli. Then we meet Hanna who is in a chair but whose cat loves to lay on top of the book! There are so many different characters in the book that represent the diversity of people that come and borrow books from the library. The book colors are colorful and bright which bring on such a pleasant feeling reading the book. The illustrations look like hand drawn color paintings that have been digitized. There is not only an excellent representation of race in the book but we also see different types of family structures, living and environments and ability.
