What did you like about the book? Big is a tortoise and Little is a squirrel. They are best friends doing everything together like climbing trees (yes!), chewing stuff, dressing up (very cute!) and having races. Then one day Big did not come out of his shell! Little tried coaxing him out with his favourite cake, “but still Big hid.” He enlisted the help of friends “but still Big hid.” Little missed Big so much that he “gave Big a great big hug… and just like that, Big didn’t feel like hiding anymore.” The colorful illustrations, done in block-like form using purple, brown, orangey-red and burnt sienna, highlight this simple, satisfying story of friendship.
Anything you did not like about the book? No.
To whom would you recommend this book? If you need a story of friendship and understanding your friends for the young crowd, this is a good choice.
Who should buy this book? Public libraries and child-care centers
Where would you shelve it? Picture books
Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? No.
