What did you like about the book? Finally the conclusion of the competition is near. As Io pits each contestant against one another it becomes evident that there will be no winners, only death or slavery.  The end is brutal and bloody with many a twist and turn.  Just who is evil and who is good? Deacon’s exquisite illustrations, lush with detail, his complex characters, some noble and some diabolically evil, are also imbued with comic relief.  The stand-out heroes are tiny Artur, Eloise the cat and Law the crow.  This last book in the trilogy does not disappoint.

Anything you did not like about the book?  No.

To whom would you recommend this book? Those who have read books one and two will welcome the action-packed end filled with horrendous monsters, battles and heroes.

Who should buy this book? Public and middle school libraries

Where would you shelve it? Graphic novels

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? If you have read the first two stories in this trilogy, this one is a must read.
