Format: Hardcover

What did you like about the book? A great book to use to explore the great outdoors! This encyclopedia is a reference tool for young readers learning about different animal classifications. The book groups the animals by mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles and invertebrates. Within each group there are pages for the different sub-categories. The two page layout for each animal family includes a description about the animal group. In addition there are about 6-8 different types of animals pictured from the group. Each animal gets a very brief description with general information about the animal. The pictures are digital color illustrations of the animals, however they are very accurately represented.

Anything you didn’t like about it? There is nothing I would change about this book.

To whom would you recommend this book? This is perfect for the explorer! It is a great way to get outside and look for some of the animals mentioned in the text. Readers as young as 3 years old and up to 11 years old would enjoy using this reference book.

Who should buy this book? Daycares, early learning centers, elementary schools and middle schools

Where would you shelve it? Reference or 590.3. It could also go in an oversized book area

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes
