Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 5

Format: Hardcover

What did you like about the book? This book has a LOT of great ideas to keep kids busy and keep their minds working. I want to use some of these ideas this summer or on school breaks next year. Every set of pages has an idea to spark the imagination complete with a supply list (simple items found in most homes), basic instructions to get started, and hints and tips to help out. Some things can be done alone, or with others, usually both. Kids are encouraged to create their own imaginary world on one page, make shadow puppets later on, make their own board game, draw and design things, put on a show, create a yoga pose, and so much more! Some ideas can take only a few minutes and some can be continued for days if the child chooses.

Anything you didn’t like about it? Nothing at all

To whom would you recommend this book? Parents and care providers for elementary-aged children

Who should buy this book? Libraries, parents, and daycare providers

Where would you shelve it ? j Nonfiction (maybe arts and crafts)

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Not unless you need ideas for play group activities, but childcare providers should!
