Beware of Low-Flying Corn Muffins (big Nate, #26) by Lincoln Peirce, Andrews McMeel, 2022. 9781524871574
Format: Paperback comic strips/cartoons
What did you like about the book? This marks #26 in the big Nate series, if you can believe it!! Nate is beginning a new school year saying hello to all his teachers: Mrs. Shipulski, red-nosed and ancient Mr. Galvin, the hated Mrs. Godfrey, the detention teacher, Mrs.Czerwicki, plus Sherman the hamster and Principal Nichols. He is in detention the second day of school by “accidentally” hitting Coach John with a corn muffin. Nate’s facial expressions are worth the price of the book as are his lame excuses and his swollen ego. He caddies for his Dad, is goalie in soccer, goes trick-or-treating with pals, outsmarted by Spitsy, the dog with a perennial plastic collar around his neck. Nate shares an amazing resemblance to Greg Heffley, the Wimpy Kid!
Anything you did not like about the book? No.
To whom would you recommend this book? For the Big Nate fans who cannot get enough of him.
Who should buy this book? Public and elementary school libraries
Where would you shelve it? Either with graphic novel series or 741.5 for cartoons/comic strips
Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? If you are a big Nate fan, it is compulsory.
