Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 4

Format: Board book

Genre:  Interactive

What did you like about the book? This super cute board book will send tiny chefs into a pizza-induced happy place! Bizzy Bear is busy making pizza at Topo’s Pizza, helped by Mouse and Dog. He delivers the pies on his bike to other adorable animal denizens in the town. The big draws of this book are the sliders which allow kids to mimic slicing tomatoes in an up-and-down motion and knead the dough as well. Besides the sliders, there are several wheels to turn to choose pizza toppings and to follow Bizzy Bear on his bike around town. The digital art is Richard Scarry-esque, with diminutive animals with friendly faces, in warm bright colors. The rhyming, following a “Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear” scheme, is iffy in a few places, but the sweet art and interaction with pizza making more than make up for it. The 8 pages are super thick and sturdy.

Anything you didn’t like about it? Imperfect rhyming, but still super cute.

To whom would you recommend this book? For the littlest pizza lovers, ages 0-3.

Who should buy this book? Day care centers and public libraries

Where would you shelve it ? Board books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes, the chopping motion alone makes it worth taking a look! So satisfying!
