What did you like about the book? The story begins by sharing all the things that children did to stay healthy when Covid arrived: wearing a mask, playing alone, making up your own activities, staying inside.  Finally vaccines arrived and, after a time, they were even available for younger children.  The young girl in the story does not want to get the shot.  What if it hurts? “What if it made me cry?  What if it made me bleed?  What if it made me sick?”  She meets lots of people who have been vaccinated: “Now I worry less when I go to the market” her grandfather said.  Others felt safer on a bus after being vaccinated.  Still the girl does not want a shot.  She learns that by getting vaccinated she will be helping others stay healthy.  “If enough people in our class get vaccinated, it just might protect the whole school.” “If enough people in every state and in every country get vaccinated, it just might stop the pandemic all around the world.”  She gets her shot and proudly wears her Band-Aid!  The illustrations are simple and kid-friendly, outlined in black with a good-sized font that children can easily read themselves.  All skin colors and ethnicities are represented.

Facts on vaccines and what can be done to slow the spread of covid-19 are presented on the end page.

Anything you did not like about the book? No.

To whom would you recommend this book? Parents and K-2 teachers would enjoy the information provided and the explanations that children will be able to understand.
