Everything Awesome about Space and Other Galactic Facts! by Mike Lowery. Orchard Books, 2021. 9781338359749

Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 3

Format: Paperback nonfiction,  uncorrected proof

What did you like about the book? This volume has everything any kid would want to know about space plus jokes – but it is SO crowded and overwhelming. The cartoonish illustrations bump right up onto the explosive title fonts with super tiny details in bubble blurbs around the edges. Usually I would want to sit down and peruse a volume like this with details on a page grabbing my attention and pulling me in for a read. Not possible here. Good news: it really does have a ton of information about space and even better news, it includes a title page so that if we want to narrow down information, we can.

Anything you didn’t like about it? See above

To whom would you recommend this book?  I would give this to the lovers of Eyewitness books. It’s way less organized but it might still be enjoyed.

Who should buy this book? This is an extra purchase for elementary libraries who love their space books.

Where would you shelve it? Non-fiction (523)

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? No
