Format: Hardcover picture book
What did you like about the book? This is such a fun visual romp in the spirit of the old Sesame Street segment and song “One of these things is not like the other”. In stencil patterns and print, fluorescent pink and green objects appear on a blank, cream colored page most of whom are similar, except for one. Our job as the reader is to find out which object is different. Some differences are easier to spot than others but it’s entertaining to do the deep visual dive into spotting the one. And then…!! for those a little more dedicated, the viewer can go back and try to figure out how the outlier is similar to the other objects on the page as well – thus the sub-title One of these things is almost like the others.
Anything you didn’t like about it? No, this is a visually appealing and fun interactive volume
To whom would you recommend this book? Readers of other “Find-it” books will enjoy this one as well. It’s immediate impression of simplicity (and it’s not!) will be a fun “find-it” as well.
Who should buy this book? This is a great book for younger kiddos (ages 2+) but also for the semi-older set who want a bit of a puzzle.
Where would you shelve it? Picture books
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Sure. It’s fun.
