Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 5
Format: Hardcover
Genre: Picture book
What did you like about the book? The theme of this book has been done before: cat is happy living as the only cat. New kitty arrives; is a pain until she is finally accepted by first cat. Yet this one is special. Pineapple the cat actually does look like a pineapple and the new kitty does not really look like a Kiwi, but the name is cute. The simplicity of the digital illustrations, done in soft pastels, say so much with so little. I wish I could put one here as Pineapple explodes when Kiwi hits the piano keys followed by the super mean look of Pineapple and the hurt, pathetic look on Kiwi. This one charms.
Anything you did not like about the book? No.
To whom would you recommend this book? This is a perfect book for kids with siblings that sometimes drive them crazy and for those who may have recently introduced a new kitty into the household with an older (wiser) cat.
Who should buy this book? Cat lovers, Public libraries and Day-care centers
Where would you shelve it? Picture Books
Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes.
