Format: Hardcover Beginning Reader

What did you like about the book? A ridiculously cute effervescent blue cat is taking over the dog’s tasks as he is sick. Story Number One: See the Dog.  “See the dog run”. No problem.  “Ta-da!”  “See the dog bark”.  “MEOW! Oops. I mean bow-wow. Hee-hee!”  Dig a hole?  Okay, a little harder to do.  But the clever kitty gets a machine digger to do the digging.  Story Number Two: See the Lake.  Uh-oh.  “You’ve got to be kidding.”  This one is hilarious as the little cat jumps into a tiny puddle screaming.  See the dog get the stick.  Kitty is roasting marshmallows.  Story Number Three: See the Sheep. Can a cat protect sheep from a wolf?  Fortunately neither the cat nor the sheep are eaten by the wolf.

The gouache illustrations are perfect.  The cat has a huge mouth that is more than capable of screaming.  Artwork is simple with cat as the centerpiece.  The cat’s words, done in Coop Forged, appear in a bubble while the story is told in  Myriad font, large and very easy to read.

Anything you did not like about the book?  No.

To whom would you recommend this book? Pairing this one with See the Cat: Three Stories About a Dog would be perfect.  For kids who like silly, humorous stories – starring a cat.

Who should buy this book? Public libraries and day-care centers

Where would you shelve it? Beginning Readers

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? If you liked See the Cat: Three Stories about a Dog then you will enjoy this one.
