Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 4

Format: Hardcover

Genre:  Adventure

What did you like about the book?  Pierre and Paul are two friends who speak two different languages, French and English! However, using both of their languages, they have the most fun on their adventures on garbage day. Before they head for their adventures they draw a treasure map of the neighborhood. As they go out they enter into a battle, they find themselves in a poisonous swamp, and even in a boat at sea. The storyline on the page switches between French and English. The transitions are very smooth as if one is having a bilingual conversation. The colored pencil/watercolor illustrations are adorable.

Anything you didn’t like about it? No

To whom would you recommend this book?  This book is perfect for the child who just made a new friend who speaks another language. Children as young as 3 years old who might be learning another language will also enjoy it.

Who should buy this book? Early learning centers and elementary schools

Where would you shelve it? Picture books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes
