Format: Hardcover

Genre: Humor

What did you like about the book? What’s better than an Elephant & Piggie story? FIVE E & P stories in one volume!  This is the fourth volume of stories.  It contains My Friend is Sad (2007), I Love My New Toy (2008), Pigs Make Me Sneeze (2009), A Big Guy Took My Ball (2013), and My New Friend is So Fun (2014).  In My Friend is Sad Piggies does everything he can think of to cheer up sad Gerald.  When he finally does succeed (being a clown, a robot, a cowboy) Gerald then becomes sad that Piggie was not there to share in the fun…? The antics and situations with the other four stories are as much fun as this one.  Willems’ simple, trademark illustrations- Gerald and Piggie outlined in black with an all-white background- are welcomed as friends by all readers.

Anything you did not like about the book?  No.

To whom would you recommend this book? This is for Mo Willems Elephant & Piggie fans who want to revisit stories they have loved or who want to read them for the first time.  It is perfect for storytimes where kids will be happy that there is more than just one Elephant & Piggie story.

Who should buy this book? Nursery school, public libraries and K-1 classrooms – and parents of kids who love these stories.

Where would you shelve it? Beginning Readers

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles?  If you love Elephant & Piggie stories, yes.
