What did you like about the book? Zadie is upset with her family and decides to run away. When packing her most important objects, she can’t find the match to her favorite rainbow stripey sock, so she goes looking for it around the house. Along the way, she begins to understand her emotions and starts to feel better. When she finds her younger brother playing with her sock as if it were a rainbow snake, she joins in and decides to stay, at least until tomorrow. Most kids will be able to relate to the frustrations of Zadie’s family and know they are not alone. The illustrations are full of color and black outlines make the different textures of the illustrations and colors stand out. Color and pattern splotches follow Zadie to enhance the reader’s understanding of her emotional state.
