Vroom, Vroom! – by Mary Lyn Ray, illustrated by Julien Chung, Beach Lane Books, 9781481449335, 2021

Format:  Hardcover

Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review)  4

What did you like about the book:   The simple text and bright illustrations share the joy and imagination of a child playing with a toy car on a road trip.   The fun long-width shape with the colors of a street light moves the story forward.   ‘It’s driving day.’ A green light indicates it is time to ‘GO!’   Then you are behind the steering wheel with the key in hand and you are off, VROOM!  Next, a review of the rules of the road and how to care for our car before it is time for lunch.  A bit of alphabet soup to spell, ‘CAR’, a nap and then we are off again for another adventure.

Anything you didn’t like about it?  No

To whom would you recommend this book?   A great read aloud for young readers and for them to enjoy over and over on their own, especially for every child that loves things that go.

Who should buy this book?  Preschools, elementary schools, home and public libraries

Where would you shelve it ?  Picture books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? no
