The End is Just the Beginning by Mike Bender, illustrated by Diana Mayo, Crown Books for Young Readers, 9781984896933, 2021
Rating: (1-5) (5 is an excellent or starred review) 4
What did you like about the book? It was a simple read with delightful pages of art. This book effectively reinforced having a positive outlook. An example of the end and the beginning include “…the end of the day is the beginning of the night…” The points made were relatable for the target age group and the main message was conveyed in a creative way using THE END as the beginning and THE BEGINNING as the end.
Anything you didn’t like about it? Nope!
To whom would you recommend this book? I would recommend this book to any child of kindergarten to elementary age.
Who should buy this book? Local libraries, elementary school libraries, daycares and pre-ks as well as book fairs and local bookstores. This book should be sold anywhere, it teaches a good life lesson.
Where would you shelve it? I would shelve this on the picture book or children’s book shelf.
Should we (librarans/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? For children, yes. It teaches an important lesson for positive outlooks.
