Format: Board book

Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 5

Genre: Board book, alphabet book

What did you like about the book?  This colorful and delightful alphabet book shines in all the colors of, well, the rainbow! If you’re bored with traditional A-Z instructional manuals, this one focuses on some old favorites (X is a colorful xylophone) but also adds new ones; gelato scoops, a mohawk and sprinkles all make an appearance. Each image features the whole ROYGBIV spectrum and the clean, sharp digital art is eye-popping. I got a definite LGBTQ-positive vibe here, with ‘disco” representing D and “Oz” featured for O. Heavy board pages make this ideal for toddlers learning to appreciate books.

Anything you didn’t like about it? No

To whom would you recommend this book?  Families looking for board books that really work for the younger set, rather than picture books adapted to the format.

Who should buy this book?  Preschools, day cares, public libraries

Where would you shelve it?  Board books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? No, you get the idea.
