What did you like about the book? Children take a nighttime romp with Mother Goose in this enchanting take on the classic nursery rhyme.  The end papers are illustrated with eight Mother Goose rhymes and the characters join in the pages of the story.  Mother Goose calls to the children of a diverse city neighborhood: “Girls and Boys come out to play, The moon doth shine as bright as day. Leave your supper, leave your sleep, And come with your playfellows into the street.”  The children follow Mother Goose over Humpty Dumpty’s wall and find themselves in a fairytale land.  They are joined by Old King Cole, Jack and Jill, all the king’s men and the cat and the fiddle, among other familiar nursery rhyme characters.  Everyone joins in to help Mother Goose make some pudding to share and then the tired children return home to bed.   The lovely watercolors, rendered in pen and ink and watercolor, are filled with fun details and soft colors.  This would make a lovely bedtime read aloud.
