What did you like about the book? Life is complicated for Duck because he doesn’t like water. It becomes more troublesome when the roof of his house gets a hole on a rainy evening. Duck ventures outside and meets Frog, who is lost and who happens to love water. They spend time together until Duck is able to help Frog find his home, which ends up being a bit more difficult than Duck anticipated. Finally, Frog is home. Duck returns to his home, but he discovers he is lonely. So, he rows his way to Frog and they agree that being friends together is much better than going it alone. In the process they realize that someone doesn’t have to be just like you to be a good friend. The vibrantly colored illustrations are placed whimsically on the pages and they add lovely detail to a charming story.

Anything you didn’t like about it? No

To whom would you recommend this book? This is a great friendship story that would be a fun read aloud for younger elementary students.

Who should buy this book? Elementary and public libraries

Where would you shelve it? Picture books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? While it is a delightful story, there’s nothing remarkably different that would put it to the top of a must read pile.
