What did you like about the book? This book is right on time to celebrate Earth Day this year! The book offers readers short snippets of different people across the globe who have been fighting for the health and safety of our planet. The diversity of the biographies is excellent. I was actually really excited to read the first bio of Edgar J. Helms. I did not know about the reasons behind the creation of Goodwill and the purpose Mr. Helms wanted it to serve in the fight for a healthy planet. We also have a great representation of female activists such as Rachel Carson, Wangari Maathai and Vandana Shiva, amongst many others. Each page fold out has one page dedicated to a short bio and the adjacent page goes into a little more detail about what they did to help the planet. The pictures are all cartoon drawings of the activists. The colors are vibrant and although they are cartoon drawings they are very accurate in the portrayal of the actual person. The last two pages have included additional names that they did not have in the main narrative.

Anything you did not like about the book? No

To whom would you recommend this book? This is a great read for spring time and earth day for young readers who are interested in learning more about being good stewards of nature. This would be great for kids ages 2 -5.

Who should buy this book? Early learning centers, pre-schools and elementary schools

Where would you shelve it? Board books

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes
