What did you like about the book? This story will make any reader shed a tear. It is a beautiful story about the relationship between a mother and daughter. The authors describe this relationship by telling the story through different cloud shapes. We often do not slow down to process “big and little” life moments. However, have you ever sat and watched the clouds? When you are doing this time almost stands still as you imagine what story the different shapes are telling. We watch as the daughter grows up and the mother things deeply about who her daughter will become. We also get to process what happens when “dark” moments happen in our lives and how through a deep connection with our caregivers we can get through these moments. The illustrations in this book are absolutely amazing. They are colorful and detailed. They are almost soothing to go through and see. Additionally, the illustrator did a great job invoking the reader’s emotions in the picture layout of the storm. In the picture the daughter is sad about her big brother going away for work. The colors on these two pages are dark and stormy and while reading it you can feel those emotions as well.

Anything you did not like about the book? No, it was an extra touch at the end to get the story behind the story.

To whom would you recommend this book? This book is for any mama obsessed child between the ages of 3- 6. I think at this age a student is really understanding relationships on a deeper level. This is also a great book for parents who need a gentle reminder to be present in the big and little moments with their children.

Who should buy this book? Parents, elementary schools

Where would you shelve it? Picture books

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes
