Genre: Picture Book

What did you like about the book? This book has it all–the alphabet, animals, and a lot of adorable! Each page features a brightly-colored capital letter with a corresponding animal. Alligators are with “A”, butterflies are with “B”, and so on all the way to zebra. It is the ABCs of love, so each page has a scattering of hearts. Children will see koalas, narwhals, monkeys, penguins, unicorns, walrus, and the entire group together on a two-page spread in the back of the book. I especially loved how the animals were incorporated into the letters. For example, the tentacles of the jellyfish are curled around the “J”, the koala are climbing the side of the “K”, the penguin is popping out through the opening of the “P”, and the quail is nesting in the base of the “Q”.

Anything you did not like about the book. Nothing.

To whom would you recommend this book? This book is perfect for children between the ages of birth and three years old. I would especially recommend this book to a child that loves animals–many are represented in this book.

Who should buy this book? Public libraries, preschools, daycare centers, anyone who works with children between the ages of birth and three years old.

Where would you shelve it? Board Books

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes, I know there are a lot of animal alphabet books out there, but this is a cute one–and you can never really have enough of those books.
