What did you like about the book? Do you ever wonder what you were doing when you were a middle schooler? I know that I sure was not creating lemonade that was being sold nationwide! This book is a great guide for the youngest entrepreneurs in your life. It explores how Mikaila Ulmer went from fearing bees and being outside to becoming one of their strongest advocates along with selling a product that helps save the bees! When Mikaila was a young child within a week she was stung by a bee TWICE. What unfortunate luck. Initially she became afraid of bees and going outside. However, her parents informed her she could not live like that forever. Instead of living in fear Mikaila decided to learn about bees. Through her exploration she realized that bees due to environmental issues were going to soon disappear if we did not make it a priority to keep them safe. The book is narrated by Mikaila which is amazing because it reads in a young youthful voice. There are a couple black and white photographs in the book but they are of Mikaila at different parts of the journey (and with some celebrities). This book however, is more than an autobiography. Mikaila actually includes business building advice all throughout the book. Therefore, this book is great for any young reader who has an idea but does not know how to start. She also, at the end of the book, has a week-long Bee teaching unit!

Anything you did not like about the book? No, this was an excellent book.

To whom would you recommend this book? This book is for the youngest entrepreneurs. In this day and age many young people are witnessing how you can start a business at any age. Our young readers are most certainly going to be thinking about how to start and run their own business very early on in life. This book guides them on how to do that in a way that is children friendly. This would also be a great book for a teacher who wants to explore the bee unit and teach their students about the importance of bees.

Who should buy this book? Middle schools

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes
