What did you like about the book? This colorfully illustrated picture book told in rhyme captures many characteristics of the sea—its size, beauty and power. Each page or spread depicts not only the sea but some of its residents both large and small. At the end of the story the authors have explained each page and give names to the creatures they wrote about.

This book would be a wonderful introduction for young children to learn about the ocean and its many living creatures and its importance to our world. There is a great deal of information in this picture book and it would be great to share with older kids as well as pre-K students.

Anything you didn’t like about it? No

To whom would you recommend this book?  Lovers of animals and the ocean will enjoy this book immensely.

Who should buy this book?  Elementary school libraries and public libraries’ children’s rooms may want to get this book

Where would you shelve it? Picture book science, science

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes
