What did you like about the book? Devin is a character that readers of all ages can relate to. A bit of bad luck? Check. Friendship struggles? Check. The pressure of an important moment? Check. These situations and more are what Devin is facing in Alex Morgan’s 11th book in her middle school series. With determination and courage, Devin learns valuable lessons about the importance of friendship. Even though relationships may change, it does not mean that they are less valuable.
Alex Morgan does a great job of capturing the middle school climate. I think that students will resonate with Devin’s experience and look at it as a learning experience. The variety of situations that Devin goes through provides readers with a sense that they are not alone.
Anything you didn’t like about it? No.
To whom would you recommend this book? I would recommend this book to middle school students who may be going through friendship struggles. I would also recommend this to readers who have read other books in The Kicks Series. Readers who are interested in soccer may also find this book enjoyable.
Who should buy this book? Public libraries, Elementary schools, Middle Schools
Where would you shelve it? Fiction
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? No
