What did you like about the book? During the quarantine many things became popular: dalgona coffee, binge watching ’90s tv series and sourdough bread baking. I became one of those sourdough bread baking fanatics. This book is an amazing child perspective of the bread baking craze that took over the world during the initial part of the global pandemic. Butterbean goes through all the stages of beginner bread makers! She first tries to pass on the responsibilities of taking care of the starter to her mother who promptly and happily refused! These were my exact feelings when I got my sourdough starter! She can’t figure out why the starter is growing so fast and quickly becomes overwhelmed with the amount of sourdough starter. Butterbean gets a wonderful idea to bring a loaf to her local community center. However, there is still too much starter! However, she realizes perhaps she can share more of the starter and teach a bread baking class for others who may not be able to financially afford the supplies to bake bread! A beautiful lesson about helping others with something as yummy as warm bread loaves! The illustrations are colorful and look drawn with colored pencils. At the end of the book they even include a starter recipe, a bread making recipe as well as additional tips and resources about making bread.
