What did you like about the book? When Abi’s father marries Polly, Abi gains two brothers – and a new place to live.  Not bad enough?  They need to move – They finally locate a rundown house on a dead-end street that is covered in ivy.  Abi is a reader who becomes so involved in what she is reading that she experiences what is happening in the book – for real.  Her new little brother, Louis, has a mountain lion visiting his bedroom at night, climbing up the ivy.  Strange, mysteriously magical happenings as everyone adjusts to one another and becomes a new family.

Anything you did not like about the book?  No.

To whom would you recommend this book? Those who like the magical realism of David Almond’s Skellig or even the Inkheart trilogy by Cornelia Funke might well appreciate this story.

Who should buy this book? Elementary and public libraries

Where would you shelve it? J Fiction

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles?  Not quite.
