Genre: Humor

What did you like about the book? Rowley Jefferson, Jeff Kinney’s best friend (even if one might wonder why on the part of Rowley).  Rowley is writing a fantasy adventure story.  Greg decides Rowley needs help so he becomes Garg the Barbarian who will assist Roland (Rowley) in finding his mother who has been kidnapped by the White Warlock. Greg wants to add a lot of elements to the story that will ensure it becomes a hit movie with book-tie-ins and all manner of related merchandise.  Rowley is a gentle, obedient kid who just wants to write a nice story.  Somehow Rowley manages to override most of Greg’s suggestions to create an original, fun, exciting and funny adventure story.

Christopher Gebauer is an actor and audiobook narrator with an extensive resume that includes narrating the Waylon books by Sara Pennypacker. He has the ability to make voices of 12-year-olds sound like the voices of 12-year olds!

Anything you did not like about the book?  Not a thing

To whom would you recommend this book? To Jeff Kinney’s Wimpy Kid readers and anyone else who likes a well-done, funny listen.

Who should buy this book? Public and elementary school libraries

Where would you shelve it? Children’s audiobooks

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles?  If you are a Jeff Kinney/Wimpy Kid/Rowley Jefferson fan – yes!
