All’s happy that ends happy – Rose Lagercrantz, illustrated by Eva Ericksson, Gecko Press, 2020

Format: Hardcover

Rating:  1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 5

Genre: Realistic fiction

What did you like about the book? Dani has been sick and out of school for seven weeks.  She is better just in time to attend her father and Sadie’s wedding in Rome.  (Dani lives in Sweden but her father is from Italy – and she sort of manufactured the marriage proposal!)  This is exciting but Dani is desperately missing her best friend, Ella, who is likewise missing her.  This is a sweet, quickly read story enhanced mightily by the wonderfully expressive pen and ink illustrations of Eva Eriksson’s on nearly every page.

Anything you did not like about the book?  Not a thing.

To whom would you recommend this book? This is the seventh story about Dani; those who have enjoyed the previous six will definitely enjoy this new one.  But the story stands on its own without having read any of the previous titles.

Who should buy this book? Public and elementary school libraries

Where would you shelve it? Juvenile fiction

Should we (librarians) put this on the top of our “to read” piles?  It is very enjoyable and, though not essential, it is well worth the read.
