This or That? What will you choose at the British Museum? – Pippa Goodhart

This or That? What will you choose at the British Museum? – Pippa Goodhart, Nosy Crow Ltd., 9781536212235, 2020

Format: Hardcover

Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review): 4

What did you like about the book? During these intense times this book is needed for many different reasons. The book takes you through different “exhibits” in the British Museum. Each page layout has different artifacts from various parts of the museum. The items are grouped on the pages by a category i.e. boat or balloon. There are only three phrases on the pages. For example on the boat and balloon page there is: the category, a question for kids to find boat related things and a question to find balloon related things. The pictures are just photographs of the artifact in the museum. The book also includes an appendix on the last pages. The appendix is put into a map format for each of the page layouts.

Anything you didn’t like about it? I would have liked if the name of the artifact was on the page in addition to having the appendix at the end. Although the page gives you a general category for the artifacts you do not know what you are looking at in terms of historical facts.

To whom would you recommend this book?  Kids with an interest in museums, 11-13 years old

Who should buy this book? Middle schools and public libraries

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? No
