What did you like about the book? This beautifully illustrated story about coming together is rendered bittersweet due to the current pandemic and social distancing. The story begins with one child: “On our own, we’re special, and we can chase our dream.” Each double-page spread adds another child through the use of die cuts until there is a whole circle of children representing many cultures and ethnicities. The final double-page spread is filled with even more children: “If ever we’re lonely, we’ll just say out loud: Let’s all stand together, one big happy crowd!” The illustrations perfectly complement the story and take the reader to a variety of settings including a park, a forest, a meadow, the ocean and the arctic. We can only hope to be able to come together again very soon.
