What did you like about the book? Perhaps some of the most enjoyable picture books are those that are unpredictable and keep the adult reader guessing along with the child. Tatsukawa has written a charming text that introduces us to the ‘bear’ in a little boy’s family. Although no one believes him, the bear is indeed real. And, the boy discovers that while the bear may be loud and messy and stubborn, it also is there for him whenever he needs it. The textured illustrations are perfect for keeping little ones engaged, while the simple text is just right for beginning readers to attempt on their own. This is Tatsukawa’s first book. I look forward to more!

Anything you didn’t like about it? No

To whom would you recommend this book? Perfect for young readers and read-aloud.

Who should buy this book? Daycare, early elementary or public libraries

Where would you shelve it? Picture books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? It is a delightful and relatable story that would make a nice addition to any picture book collection.
