What did you like about the book? Most would consider affecting world change before bedtime as a lofty goal, however, this child-friendly book suggests it’s totally possible for even the youngest of children. Opportunities to make a positive impact and create social justice are all around us. Simply eat right, clean up the Earth, conserve, recycle, help others who need it, and work in groups when one person isn’t enough to make the change. The text promotes an interactive experience that allows the reader to take ownership of the book by providing a space to draw a self-portrait, including a directions page that details how to make your own superhero cape, and suggestions for how children and adults can help out in their communities. The bold, child-friendly illustrations propel the reader to feel motivated and inspired to jump into action and do good things for others.

Anything you didn’t like about it? No

To whom would you recommend this book? Beyond being an obvious choice for families of young children looking to make a positive impact, scout troops, church programs/classes and afterschool clubs would enjoy this as a read aloud to kick off a potential charitable giving initiative.

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes
