I Thought I Saw a Bear!/ I Thought I Saw an Elephant! – Lydia Nichols, Templar Books (9781536205732/9781536205749), 2019
Format: Board Book
Rating: 1- 5 (5 is excellent or a Starred review) 4
Genre: Picture Book
What did you like about the book? Little readers can easily manipulate the circle tabs in these two books to play fun games of hide and seek with a bear and an elephant. The bear shows up in all kinds of transportation from the VW bus on the cover, to a car, a boat, a train, a hot-air balloon and finally riding a scooter. Elephant hides at the park behind an apple tree as on the cover, in an ice-cream shop, a pond, a slide, and a tree house. The primary color illustrations will appeal to children and the sturdy page should stand up to lots of use. This is a very fun series for little ones.
Anything you didn’t like about it? No
To whom would you recommend this book? Children who enjoy hide and seek and manipulatives will love these two titles.
Who should buy this book? Public Libraries and pre-school libraries
Where would you shelve it? Board Books
Should we (librarians/readers) put this at the top of our “to read” piles? No
