Bruce’s Big Fun Day (World of Reading) – Ryan T. Higgins, Disney Hyperion, (9781368015776), 2019
Format: Hardcover Beginning Reader
Rating: 1- 5 (5 is excellent or a Starred review) 5
What did you like about the book? The curmudgeonly bear is back in an early reader. Five short chapters recount the BIG FUN DAY that his mouse friend Nibbs has planned for grumpy Bruce. Of course, Bruce does not like any of the activities. The illustrations add to the fun as they had fun details to the text. For example, we see why Bruce does not like swimming as the illustration depicts a turtle biting Bruce’s bottom under the water. So was the day a success? The book ends with Bruce at bedtime. “It was a day filled with fun! Bruce does not like fun. Fun makes Bruce grumpy…And Bruce likes being grumpy.”
Anything you didn’t like about it? No
