What did you like about the book? A crew of pirates, made up of a sloth, an elephant, a giraffe, a pig, a turtle with an eye-patch and a pegleg bunny, set off to find treasure. Based on the classic We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, the story includes a fun refrain and plenty of chances for participatory actions. “We’re goin’ on a treasure hunt./We’re gonna fetch some gold! /YO-HO-HO!/Me hearties, let’s go!” The pirates must face off with a giant squid, “wicked whales,” thunder and lightning, a giant wave and a group of small skeletons before reaching the booty. But just as they are about to get the treasure they are scared off: “Captain, bewares! There’s a BEAST by yer boot!” They run for their lives from a mouse. The illustrations are full of color, expression and lots of fun. Little ones will ask for repeated readings and soon join in the fun refrains and actions.
