What did you like about the book? New fashions are always fun, until you need to use it for its proper purpose. Nelly receives a wonderful new swimsuit. She just loves it. She eats in it, plays in it, and sleeps in it. The only thing she doesn’t do is swim in it! Her mother brings her to the beach. The water is too cold, the waves are too big, no swimming for Nelly. She continues to wear her suit, though! Soon she and her mother travel to visit her grandmother, a champion swimmer! Nelly learns not to be afraid and, of course, loves the water and is a champion swimmer herself by the end of the book. Cute expressive illustrations of Nelly (a little pig) are done in pen and ink and watercolor. Bright airy illustrations gives the book a warm and fun feel!

Anything you didn’t like about it? No

To whom would you recommend this book?  Story hour, children who have that “one” outfit they always wear, weary swimmers.

Who should buy this book? Public libraries, preschools/day-cares

Where would you shelve it? Picture books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? No
