What did you like about the book? Cute Illustrations. A loving family encourages little Lizzie’s culinary interest. Their dog is on every page as the Little Chef goes through her day preparing for the big dinner. Children will get a kick out of his antics throughout. There’s even a recipe included for the Super Special Smashed Potatoes that Lizzie makes for her grandmother. I love that the Secret Ingredient is never identified, encouraging young chefs to experiment for themselves.
Anything you didn’t like about it? No
To whom would you recommend this book? It would work well in a food themed story hour or as a one-on-one parent/child read.
Who should buy this book? Pre-schools, Day-care, Public Libraries
Where would you shelve it? Picture Books
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles: Not unless you are really into cooking with your children.
