Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 4
Genre: Picture books
What did you like about the book? This is a funny dual-voice picture book. One side of the page opening describes the natural history of squirrels. The other is a comedic first person narration by a squirrel, describing his willingness to appear in the book in exchange for tacos. The action comes to a standstill when a hawk is announced as a natural predator of squirrels. I like the combination of fact and silly story. The art appears to be digital and is fun and cartoony.
To whom would you recommend this book? Suggest to families who like meta-stories/interactive picture books, to fans of Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin, and to squirrel-lovers. I imagine taco lovers will enjoy this as well! Great for kids ages 4-8.
Who should buy this book? Elementary school and public libraries
Where would you shelve it ? Picture books
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? No
