I Want to go First by Richard Byrne

I Want to go First by Richard Byrne, Henry Holt and Company, 9781250127716, 2017

Format: Hardcover

Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 5

Genre:  Fantasy

What did you like about the book?  A family of elephants is on their way to the watering hole in the back of the book.  Elphie, the youngest, is always at the end of the line and asks the reader to help him make his way to the front by shouting, hissing, and giving the book a good shake.  The interactive aspects of the story will make it a fun read-aloud.

Anything you didn’t like about it? No

To whom would you recommend this book? The interactive aspect is similar to Press Here,  but with a simple story line.

Who should buy this book?  Public libraries,  elementary school libraries

Where would you shelve it ? Picture books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? It is a fun read!
