Anna & Froga: Completely Bubu by Anouk Ricard, translated by Helge Dascher. Enfant (Drawn & Quarterly), 2017. 9781770462922
Format: Paperback
Rating: 1-5 (5 is an excellent or a Starred review) 5
Genre: Graphic humor
What did you like about the book? Anna and her quirky friends Christopher the worm, Ron the cat, Froga the frog and Bubu the dog, hang out together and try to have fun, but mostly argue and make fun of each other. It’s very relatable adolescent squabbling and it’s very funny. The book consists of 2-4 page episodes that remind me a lot of Seinfeld in that they involve friends in everyday activities. Part of the humor is seeing cute animals acting like middle schoolers.
To whom would you recommend this book? Recommend this to kids ages 8 and up who like funny comics such as Calvin and Hobbes.
Who should buy this book? Elementary and middle school and public libraries
Where would you shelve it ? Graphic novels/comics
Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes
