What did you like about the book? Papillon is a white kitty that is so fluffy that he floats. He loves playing and floating around until one day he swallows one of his toys and can’t float any more. He feels sick and has to go the vet for an overnight stay. There are lots of other cats at the clinic, but Papillon just feels sad and wants to go home. He cries so much that he hiccups and coughs up the toy. Papillon is back in business and shows his new cat friends all his floating tricks. The next day Papillon happily goes home. I loved the transition from forlorn Papillon riding in a bike basket to the vet to ecstatic Papillon riding home. The whimsical illustrations of Papillon highlight his personality and moods wonderfully.

Anything you didn’t like about it? I liked everything about this book.

To whom would you recommend this book? Toddlers and young children will enjoy this book. It is also a good book to read to a child who is frustrated with being sick. It will allay fears children might have about going to the hospital.

Who should buy this book? Public libraries, elementary school libraries, day care centers

Where would you shelve it? Picture books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Yes

Reviewer’s Name, Library (or school), City and State: Sandra Pacheco, ESL teacher Washington, DC.
