What did you like about the book?  An unknown narrator talks to Black Belt Bunny as the little bunny in a karate uniform demonstrates his martial arts moves.  The colorful illustrations are filled with movement and expression as we see the bunny’s pride in his maneuvers. “Watch out for Black Belt Bunny’s front kicks, side kicks, air chops, downward blocks, center punches, and knee drops.”  Then the narrator tells Black Belt Bunny that it is time to learn something new – how to make a salad.  Black Belt Bunny is not happy and tries to get away.  Finally he is told to “Hop to it!” and Black Belt Bunny takes out his frustrations on a head of cabbage: “Wham!!! Slice! Chop! Bam!”  Soon the little bunny is using his karate skills to get all of the vegetables ready for the salad.  When the salad is ready to eat, Black Belt Bunny invites the narrator to join him.  Oh no, the narrator does not like arugula.  Black Belt Bunt furrows his brow and taps his foot until the narrator agrees to try it.  This is a fun story that will be appreciated by children taking karate classes.  It is also a nice example of trying new things and especially new foods.
