What did you like about the book? In this sweet story set on the Arctic tundra, a little goose hatches and imprints on Aput the arctic fox calling him “Daddy Honk Honk!” Aput tries to find another animal family that can care for the little goose better than he can, but instead each animal gives him some good advice about raising a baby. The illustrations rendered in india ink and watercolor are beautiful and perfectly capture the humor of the situation. Readers will love the arctic animals including lemmings, musk ox, walruses and whales. The little goose hangs on Aput’s nose, interrupts a polar bear’s yoga session (“Daddy roar roar!”), and swims among a multitude of ocean creatures – “Daddy Splish Splash!” In the end, Aput follows the advice of his friends by cooking healthy food, setting up a nice crib for the baby goose and reading a bedtime story. A knock at he door reveals all of his friends with a welcome banner that gives the baby one final gift, a beautiful name – Aurora! A beautiful story that illustrates that “…above all else, a baby needs love.” Add this to stories about families and adoption.
